On 17-19 July 2017 the Provincial Conference of the African Province of Saint Augustine was held in Kepcoste (Ghana), following the Canonical Visitation performed by the Provincial Superior, Brother Barthelemy KAMARA. The Conference was attended by the Community Superiors and the Directors of the centres, together with a number of Co-workers, to discuss the life and mission of the Province during this quadrennium, before the celebration at the forthcoming Provincial Chapter in 2018.

The main points discussed and shared, consistently with the resolutions of the last Provincial Chapter, were:

The challenges of initial professional formation and continuing training and formation;

The challenges posed to the life of the Brothers and their relations with the Co-workers within the Hospitaller Family;

The challenges of charismatic management of the Centres;

The challenges of Provincials governance and leadership.

After the Provincial’s report the meeting broke up into working groups followed by debates in plenary, in the course of which the Brothers shared their ideas. On the following days the management boards of different countries presented their report, together with the official responsible for formation in the Province. They then addressed the question of the future, dwelling in particular on how to consolidate all the achievements in the various fields in which Province has made progress. The debates were were constructive and took place in a friendly and welcoming environment, typical of our African confreres.
