Assembly of Major Superiors

As scheduled in the programme for the Sexennium, the Assembly of Major Superiors of the Order is being held on 7-11 November in Rome at the General Curia.

The meeting is attended by all the Provincials, the Viceprovincial and the Provincial Delegate and was inaugurated with the celebration of the Eucharist, and the programme is continuing as planned.

In his opening address, the Father General touched on a number of points of crucial importance to the future of the Order: “the inspiration of our Founder must be the key for fashioning our future: to renew, every single day, the Gospel-inspired and charismatic nature of Hospitality; to remain true to our Religious consecration as witnesses and prophets of Hospitality in our world and in our age; to be faithful and bold in performing our mission.

For the first three days, the Assembly will reflect on the Holy See’s recently published document “Identity and Mission of the Religious Brother”. The reflection is being led by the Marist priest, Fr. José M. Ferre.

During the rest of the week, information will be shared on everything that has been done in the course of the year by the General and Regional Commissions, and an introduction will be given to the forthcoming General Chapter and the Regional Meetings.

On Saturday, at the end of the Assembly, everybody will enter St Peter’s Basilica passing through the Holy Door, signifying the pilgrimage in which the whole Order is invited to take part.
