Since September 6, the Vatican Pharmacy has had a new Prior and Director: Brother Binish Thomas Mulackal of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God. He was introduced to the Brothers’ of the Vatican Community and its employees by Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello, President of the Governorate of the Vatican City State, on Tuesday morning, September 6, on the premises of the Pharmacy. Those attending the event included Bishop Fernando Vergez Alzaga, Secretary-General of the Governorate, Brother Rudolf Knopp, Vicar-General of the Hospitaller Order, Brother Pascal Ahodegnon, fourth General Councillor, Professor Alfredo Pontecorvi, Head of the Health and Hygiene Directorate of the Governorate, Professor Fabrizio Soccorsi, personal physician of Pope Francis, several Brothers from the Order’s General Curia Community and from Tiber Island, in addition to the Pharmacy staff and Co-workers.

In his address, Cardinal Bertello thanked the Order and its superiors for their valuable work and for the presence of the Brothers in the Pharmacy, for guaranteeing a high level of management stability and safety. He also expressed his gratitude to Brother Rafael Cenízo for his services since being appointed on February 5, 2009 as the Prior and Director of the Pharmacy. He then introduced the new Director and Prior of the Vatican Pharmacy Community, Brother Binish Mulackal, and thanked him for having accepted his appointment, wishing him every success in his work. On behalf of the Brothers of Saint John of God, the outgoing Director, Brother Rafael Cenízo, thanked the authorities of Vatican City State for their confidence and for having entrusted the management to him.
