The Course in Preparation for Solemn Profession opened on Monday 12 September 2016, for 39 young Scholastics from 5 continents. The new. more modern and functional, General Curia Chapter Hall was inaugurated for the occasion.

It will be run mainly held in Rome, but there will also be visits to Assisi and also to Trivolzio – the  birthplace of  St Richard Pampuri, and will end in Granada, following the footsteps of our Founder.

The purpose of the course is to discern and deepen the sense and meaning of being consecrated to God, following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ and the example of St John of God. 

Mass opened the first day’s proceedings, after which the General Councillor for Formation, Bro. Benigno Ramos, invoked the presence and guidance of the Holy Spirit in his introductory prayer in this Year of Mercy, now nearing its closure. Papers will be given on various subjects of relevance to Consecrated Life, and the Hospitaller Order in particular, and spiritual exercises will be given by the former Prior General, Brother Pascual Piles.

The course will end on 23 October in Granada.
