The 24^th World Day of the Sick this year is being celebrated in the Holy Land, in Nazareth. For the occasion, the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Health Care Workers organised a pilgrimage to visit the various social and welfare centres in the Holy Land. The programme included a visit to our Holy Family Hospital in Nazareth. The Pontifical delegation was headed by Mgr Zygmunt Zimowski, the President of the Pontifical Council, together with the Apostolic Nuncio in Israel and the Pontifical Delegate in Palestine, Mgr Giuseppe Lazzarotto, and Mgr Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo, the Latin Patriarch’s Vicar for Israel. The community of Brothers and Sisters organised a well-prepared visit to enable the visitors to see the activities our Order is performing in this Centre. The intercultural character of our Hospital in an area of heightened tension was emphasised several times, as a centre which promotes peace and tolerance, and whose Co-workers belong to different ethnicities and faiths. The Pontifical Delegation was able to visit several units, from the newborn Department to A&E. Both the personnel and the patients were delighted with the visit. At the end of the visit, the President, Mgr Zimowski, thanked the community of Brothers and Sisters for their commitment and dedication to caring for the sick, and encouraged them to take their mission forward.
