My encounter with the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God gave me the opportunity to experience hospitality every day and with increasing intensity in my day-to-day life and work. This value had always been important for me from my childhood days, inculcated into us by my parents who bought us up to make our home a welcoming place.

With the passage of time, one of my commitments to show solidarity of life and with society was to offer an unconditional welcome to children who had lost their families, or who had been deprived of them temporarily. I therefore decided to accommodate them in my own home on a temporary basis, until I had the possibility to work with Saint John of God where I experienced the value of Hospitality expressed in words and deeds.

Hospitality is a daily commitment which enables me to reach out beyond myself and show interest in others, to consider the plight of others to be important to me. And it enables me to live my life coherently in all I believe, feel and to do.

I believe that we should live our lives boldly and intensely, and my encounter with the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, for which Hospitality is more than a great value, but is its very mission, enables me to pursue an ideal to strike a balance between the different facets of my life, giving me the support and interior strength I need to continue to commit myself on behalf of, and for, Others.
