365 TESTIMONIES OF HOSPITALITY

DAILY I PRAYED TO OUR LORD, borrowing words of the Apostles:  Increase our faith.  We know the Lord’s response:  If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to (this) mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea,” and it would obey you (Lk. 17:5-6).  Considered through the eyes of faith, the events both large and small all have their importance, since all things work for the good for those who love God (Saint Paul to the Romans 8:28).  In this spirit, I wish to share with you my daily life as a John of God Brother.

Providence allows us to celebrate Holy Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours in common each day.  This work of prayers might appear “useless” from the perspective of profitability, is in reality the religious’ primary task.  The light of faith allows us to grasp its full value.  It is in these common celebrations of the Liturgy and the Holy Eucharist that we meet Jesus present in the community gathered in His name, Jesus who speaks in the readings of the Sacred Scripture, Jesus represented by his ordained minister and in a very special way His Real Presence in the form of bread and wine.  This personal experience with Him and the enlightenment from His words enable us to see Him in faith when we meet Him again in the hospital ward in persons of the poor sick whom we serve day to day with peace and joy.  In brief, living hospitality day to day is sustain by our common and fraternal life live in faith in Jesus.
